Beaver Lake is a Fly Fishing hot spot located just south of Rocky Mountain House and a popular destination for the locals.  The day we were there, the water was flat calm, the weather was gorgeous, and the big bad Rainbow Trout were jumping.  What more could you ask for?

Welcome To My Backyard

Water Resource Technician, Kelsey Kure, offered to show us around his favorite lake, and promised to put us on some of those Beaver Lake Rainbows.

Some Assembly Required

Alex sets up his "River Tamer" pontoon boat from water Skeeter.  This little craft proved to be just the thing for a good days fishing.

Fish On!

Alex battles one of these turbo-charged Rainbow Trout.  It was a great fight and the fish pulled him clear across the lake.

Some Advice On The Fly

Kelsey gives a few pointers on fly selection and presentation.

Kelsey hooks onto another powerful Beaver Lake Rainbow.  These hard battling fish can keep an Angler on their toes, with their screaming runs, and spectacular aerobatics.

The Rainbows at Beaver Lake may not hit the line on every cast, but when you do hook into one, you get a nice fish.

Alex was fortunate enough to run into Stew Slymon, a local still water expert. Stew gave us some advice on the differences between river fishing and angling on still water.
