NOT A SOUL IN SIGHT
Milk River Ridge Reservoir is about 45 minutes from Lethbridge
Alberta and is a popular spot for all kinds of summer activities.
Water Skiing, boating, and swimming are great but we came here to
fish and fortunately there’s lots of Walleye in The Ridge and we
had the whole lake to ourselves.

|
|
|
| Ridge Park is a
beautiful Provincial Campground with all the amenities you’d
expect. There’s a self registration system for camping
and for using the boat launch. Scott pays the $3 launch
fee while Alex gets the boat ready for a day of fishing.
After loading the Lund the boys get rigged up for a
promising day on the Ridge |

|
WHERE DA FISH AT?
Armed with a hydrographic map, a
few tips from the locals, and little else to go on, Scott &
Alex take a spin around the lake to scope out likely Walleye
hot-spots. |
 |
|
|
 |
 |
 |
| Bottom bouncers
are pretty much the best way to find fish so Scott &
Alex drag a few blades around looking for some takers.
Scott gets the first fish of the day but this little Pike
ain’t much to talk about, and it sure ain’t what we’re
looking for. |

THERE’S GOTTA BE
EYES’ OVER THERE
Milk River Ridge is a beautiful
reservoir with towering sand bluffs scattered around the lake. The
boys find an awesome looking point and head over to give it a try.
Hoping for an immediate bite, but realizing it’s not going to be
that easy, Alex & Scott work the water looking for that first
Walleye nibble. |
|
|
|
|
| It took a while
but Alex finally hooks into the first Walleye of the day.
After about 3 hours of searching it was great to get a
Walleye bite, unfortunately the first couple of eyes in
the boat weren’t much more than babies

|
|

|
WHO COULD RESIST
Scott digs into a tub of
Walleye Master jumbo minnows. There’s big fish down there and
there’s no way they can resist these big shiners much longer.

|
SCOTTY’S
GOT THE HOT HANDS |
|
|
|
| Some days you
just happen to have the hot (or maybe lucky) hands. Scott
shows off a couple more good size Walleye. You’ll notice
the bottle of Worx hand cleaner on the dash board. This
seemed to have made the difference as Scott was kicking
Alex’s’ butt by about 5 fish
|
|
|
BEAT BY MY OWN TIP
Alex finally figures
out what might be making the difference. As the one who turned
Scott onto Worx, Alex felt a little silly that he was getting beat
by his own fishing tip. No problems there’s lots left in
the bottle and lots of fishing left in the day.

|
QUALITY NOT QUANTITY
Although Alex didn’t catch as
many fish he certainly made up for it by catching the biggest
Walleye of the day (again) this beauty weighed in at around 6.5
pounds.
This trip proved once again that
sometimes it’s the little things that can make all the
difference. The fish were hanging on the bottom and weren’t very
aggressive. By simply removing the human scent from their hands
with Worx hand cleaner the boys were able to trick sleepy
mid-summer Walleye into biting

| FISHING ALBERTA TO
THE RESCUE!
About 2 hours after we found our
hot spot we heard a horn honking and could see the sun reflecting
off a paddle being waved in the distance. We put the rods down and
headed over to see if we could help. We figured if it was simply a
couple of guys who ran out of gas, they could wait for an hour
while we finished up the shoot then we would tow them to shore. As
it turns out it was a family with three small kids and they simply
couldn’t get their boat going. The kids were cold and wet so we
hooked their boat to the big Lund and towed them about 3km back to
the dock. The family was very nice and extremely appreciative,
unfortunately by the time we got back to our spot the bite was
off. Oh well, just another day in the adventures of Fishing
Alberta
