The Alberta Council of Trout Unlimited Canada has been concerned for
many years about the fiscal constraints of provincial water and
fisheries management agencies in Alberta. In an attempt to help Alberta
Fish and Wildlife Division and Alberta Environment increase their
ability to wisely manage and protect Alberta's aquatic resources, we
believe core budgets for these government agencies need to be restored.
In an effort to convince the Government to increase core budgets for
these departments, the Alberta Council is making a presentation on
Monday, January 28, 2002 to the Standing Policy Committee on Energy and
Sustainable Development. This Committee is comprised of several
Ministers and MLA's in the provincial government. It is responsible for
making recommendations to Alberta Treasury for funding decisions.
Attached is a 'pdf' file with a copy of TUC's written submission. Any
comments regarding the presentation would be appreciated.
