Color Can Make The Difference

Red, White, Chartreuse, Black, Blue, Green what’s it gonna be? So many colours, so little time, where the heck to start. Other than tossing "Old Faithful" back in for another go how are you and your buddies going to decide what colours to try first?

When you have a few buddies on shore or in the boat with you the answer is simple, try em’ all. That’s one of the great things about fishing with a few friends, you can quickly eliminate the colours that aren’t working and key in on the hot colours, shapes and sizes so that everybody catches more fish.

Simply start the day fishing different color lures. You can shoot fingers, draw straws or arm wrestle to see who starts with what, just so long as everybody is using something different. By using a good variety of baits you’ll minimize the time it takes to key in on the hot color of the day. A good rule of thumb is a maximum of 20 fishless minutes per lure, then change-up.

Once you figure out who’s catching fish most consistently, everybody can change up to the same color and enjoy the same success.

Exception to the Rule: If you’re trying to out-fish your buddies find the hot lure and keep it to yourself!
